Linda Blair

Linda Linda LindaWhen she was five, Linda Blair had to learn to accept being in the spotlight. First as model for children and later acting in the role of an actress when out of a field of nearly 600 candidates she was chosen for the part as Regan, the possessed child as seen on the screen in The Exorcist (1973). Linda rapidly gained international fame, won the Golden Globe, and seemed poised to get an Academy Award for that role however, when the film's leaks revealed details of how certain aspects of the character did not get done by her (the vocals of the demon were dubbed through Mercedes McCambridge, and eight seconds from a stunt dummy employed) that dream broke in disappointment, which probably came the first blow to what looked like the start of a successful career. The following years saw she was able secure lead roles in a wide range of motion pictures. The most notable of these were the television series Born Innocent and Sarah T. (also known as Portrait of a Teenage Alcoholic in addition to Exorcist II - The Heretic. After she snagged cocaine due to influence from her friends at the age of 18, this led to her being detained and a sentence of three years of probation. Linda was blocked by Hollywood in the wake of the well-publicized drug bust. Her career soon became only limited to B films and TV appearances.
